Andy Menzies has been involved with dragon boating since 1988 as a founder member of Batchworth Dragons. As Andy was in the Navy and unable to commit to training due to periods away from home, he decided to become a Technical Official for the BDA in the early 1990’s and then later qualified as an IDBF Technical Official in 1994.
Away from dragon boating Andy is an Assistant Welfare Manager for Hertfordshire RFU and has a strong interest in assisting the BDA from his position on the Executive Committee with the Child Protection Policy implementation. He currently does not hold any specific Portfolio on the Committee (to be rectified in the near future), however currently he has been asked to look into bringing the Association up to date with current IDBF regulations regarding equipment such as paddles and advise members what they should be aware of especially when competing outside the UK. |
