The Grand Dragons BNTS squad training session that was due to take place on the 24th January has been cancelled due to current and anticipated high water levels and flow at Wraysbury. Most of the dates for the 2010 season have been agreed with the remainder pending final agreement as part of an initiative with new partners. All the dates will be confirmed early in the new year and once again there will be a break in the run up to the European Championships in Amsterdam. Reserve these dates now, there's only 16 weeks to the first event! Henley have set the date for their 2010 Junior regatta. They would like to invite you to join in the fun again on Saturday 24th April. With bigger and better plans next year there will be more crews, more off water entertainment, lighter paddles (phew!), trophies and medals for each winning category and additional fun categories. Following the submission of applications for all the BNTS coaching positions Tom Love has been confirmed as the new Premier Open squad coach. He will be assisted by Russell Stynes for the campaign through to Tampa in 2011. Both Tom and Russell have many years experience of paddling and coaching and are looking forward to the challenge ahead. The revised membership fees from January 2010 have been released, full details are on the membership pages. The fees reflect the recent increases in public liability and personal accident premiums. All those taking part in BNTS activities should be renewing with full membership before participation, clubs as soon as possible in the new year and all other individual members before their first event. The table on the membership page shows which membership category applies to your role in the BDA whether a coach, helm, official or racing member. |

Following the submission of applications for all the BNTS coaching positions Alan Parfrey has been confirmed as the new Senior Open squad coach in partnership with Stephen Lewis for the campaign through to Tampa in 2011. Both Alan and Stephen are qualified level 3 coaches paddling for Kingston Royals as there home club. The previous senior squad coaching team go forward with the Grand Dragons but both teams will work together initially to grow the squad into competitive units in each class, building on the camaraderie that has been established over the past few years. An original traditional Teak Chinese Dragon Boat will get a new lease of life with disadvantaged young people in Germany. A non commercial, government funded organisation, Zaug Gmbh. based in Giessen, Germany, who specialise in educating young people, will be passing on the centuries old secret of wooden boat making, usually passed from Father to Son, throughout China.  |
