Reminder - CRB Checks [20/12/06] |

Just to remind all clubs, you must have at least one member of your club CRB checked, preferably this is the club coach. In 2007 we will be trying to get all coaches above Level 2 to be CRB checked as well. Even if your club does not have under 18's who are paddlers most clubs have drummers who fall into the vulnerable category. Further information and CRB forms can be obtained from Barbara Keenan at

John Griffiths wins prestigious Mussabini Medal [13/12/06] |

John Griffiths, GB Premier Women’s Dragon Boat Team Coach has been awarded "The Coaching Hall of Fame: Mussabini Medal" by Sports Coach UK for his contribution to dragon boat racing as a high performance coach to the GB Women. This is a significant achievement for John and the sport and shows that we are now being finally considered as a serious sport by the rest of the sporting fraternity.
‘This is a fantastic achievement and a great honour - I am delighted that his outstanding contribution to the Great Britain Women's Dragon Boat Team has been recognised'.

Congratulations to Batchworth for securing the 2006 200m premier title with a full complement of points from the best 6 results and also to Amathus Bees who completed the double with the 500m Standard title. Batchworth Aspire continue to fly the sole flag for under 18 paddling in national league events. The confirmed results for the 2006 competition have been released. These were discussed at congress following the request in 2005 to formally recognise the competition. The results are displayed beneath the National League tables for 2006. A 200m results table will be maintained during future seasons. |

What does the future hold for dragon boating in Britain? The BDA Executive Committee consider the future of dragon boating an important issue and have therefore set up a Youth Development Group whose main aim is to get more youngsters into the sport.
