Although only 19 crews turned up to race at Caldecotte the competition was as keen as ever to catch a steer, whether black and white or pink and white. The detailed race results are available below for the event which retained the traditional 200m and 500m racing pattern.

The Spring 2012 Edition of Dragon Boat International Magazine has been published.

The updated entry form for National League events has been released with revised pool boat fees but also with earlier closing dates for discounted registered crew entries. Make sure you get your crew entry for the first event at Caldecotte to the BDA Secretary by Saturday 7th April.

Following the 2012 AGM the BDA Executive Committee welcomes four new faces to help guide the sport:

Nigel Bedford, Paul Coster and Ian Elliott as committee members and Mike Thomas takes on the Vice Presidency.

Mike Haslam and Sue Menzies continue in their roles as President and Vice Chairman with Dave Bangs, Andy Menzies and Stuart Menzies continuing as committee members but Rosanna Lau and Joanne Giffiths have stepped down.

There will be more than enough to occupy the committee in an exciting year of National and European competition.

The BDA Exec have announced the new format for the 2012 National League competition. There is a brand New Look to the events and league points scoring.

• The points from all qualifying races at an event will be combined to give each crew a single score in either the Premier or Standard League table - no more 500m and 200m league tables.
• Qualifying race distances will be either 200m and 500m or one of these and an alternate race distance which could be 1000m or a 2000m straight or circular race.
• The best 7 race scores will qualify for the total league score. 
• The organising club may also provide a club challenge such as paired buoy racing or longer distance staggered start racing.
• The events at Worcester and Exeter will be for mixed crews only.
• There will be a Ladies race at all events and U18 racing at Liverpool and Worcester.
• Breast Cancer Survivor teams will take part as well as charity crew challenges at some events.
• Trophies will be awarded for all race classes and the club challenge.
• There are new rules for payment of entry fees and hiring pool boats.

The rejuvenated National League promises an exciting year of racing, make sure your helms are up to the challenge!
