Following on from the BDA Executive Meeting on 11th May we have updated our advice and information on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) first published on 16th March.
Please note the BDA will review the advice in this statement on the 13th July unless there is a material change to the situation before then. We will communicate via the Crews@ mailing list, on our website and on social media channels.
The British Dragon Boat Racing Association (BDA) Executive Committee has been monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation; especially the impact it could have on clubs, members and BDA events.
Club and O1 Training
We are following UK Government guidelines which states that people should avoid unnecessary social contact and unnecessary travel and stay at home as much as possible. Based on this the BDA advises clubs to stop all group training activities until the foreseeable future. Some small group activity could be considered if within our guidance and not involving dragonboats.
In line with Government advice on staying active the BDA advises paddlers to continue, where possible, with individual training activities. Paddlers should keep in mind government guidelines on preventing the spread of the virus including “social distancing” and good hygiene when taking part in individual activities.
Following on from a lifting of some restrictions on small group activities and travel we have issued guidance where the use of training in an O1 could be considered. No activities involving a Dragonboat should take place.
For details of the guidance please go to our policy documents subsection, or click on the document here.
